Mothers in various parts of the world are being celebrated this Sunday for giving life. All the pain that women endure to birth babies and the sacrifices made to raise them are greatly appreciated by kids big and small, and Mother’s Day is the perfect time to give the special ladies in our lives recognition.
Many families are also reflecting on the Lord on this day, and the Bible is actually a great source of literature for passages that give mothers encouragement. Here are some touching Bible verses to remind mothers of how amazing they are on this special holiday and every day.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient; love is kind. Love is not jealous; is not proud; is not conceited; does not act foolishly; is not selfish; is not easily provoked to anger; keeps no record of wrongs; takes no pleasure in unrighteousness, but rejoices in the truth; love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things.
This reminds us of the unconditional love that the most honorable mothers have for their children.
Ephesians 6:1-3
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, because this is right. Honor your father and mother which is the first commandment with a promise — that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life.
Mothers need to remember that they have a right to be respected and obeyed by their children.
Proverbs 1:8-9
Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.
Proverbs 31:10-12
A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
A woman is one of the most precious gifts to not only children, but also husbands.
Matthew 15:4-6
For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’ But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is ‘devoted to God,’ they are not to ‘honor their father or mother’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition.
Deuteronomy 5:16
Honor your father and your mother, as the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.
Mothers are a major influence in their children’s lives. So use your role as a mother to uplift and encourage so that your child will be full of confidence even when you are gone.
Galatians 6:9
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
You will be rewarded for your sacrifices and hard work being a mother, even if that reward is simply raising amazing human beings. Either way, it’ll all be worth it.
