The ongoing drama between Ciara and Future continues to intensify. Since being engaged to be married, having a child together, and eventually breaking up, the two artists have maintained a rocky relationship.
According TMZ, Ciara attempted to get sole custody of their child, Future Zahir Wilburn. Ciara told a judge that Future was a horrible parent and was non-existent in the baby’s life. Her lawyer also argued that Future sets a poor example for the baby.
Future countered her argument and suggested that the two continue to co-parent through joint custody. The judge decided to agree with Future’s defense and was in favor of joint custody.
The attempt for sole custody follows Ciara’s recent lawsuit against Future. In February, Ciara filed a $15 million defamation lawsuit against the Atlanta-raised rapper. She claimed that Future made several disparaging remarks against her through interviews and social media. Future was apparently upset when Ciara published a photo with Russell Wilson pushing baby Future while in a stroller. Future responded by saying, “She probably set him [Russell] up. You letting them catch that photo. Leave my son out of all the publicity stunts.”
Future later went to social media to express frustrations by tweeting, “This b— got control problems. I gotta go through lawyers to see baby Future. The f—ry for 15k a month.”
Ciara responded by saying the comments were malice and sued Future for slander and libel. She requested that he delete all of his tweets that were aimed at her and wanted to prevent him from speaking about baby Future on interviews and social media.
Future and Ciara appeared to be the perfect couple just a few years ago. They were both Atlanta-raised and represented the thriving music scene in the city. However, it appears that there relationship as co-parents has reached a boiling point with both sides unwilling to step back and come to terms on how to move forward.
