For several weeks now, Prince’s surviving siblings and potential new heirs have been at war with each other over who has rights to the singing legend’s leftover fortune. But now the siblings have something else to fight about because reports are revealing that the siblings are at odds over offers for TV specials about their late brother.
As previously reported, Prince’s full sister, Tyka Nelson, and five of their surviving half-siblings have been at war over how to properly divvy up Prince’s remaining fortune, which is rumored to be $150 million, as quickly as possibly because Prince’s assets are frozen until a judge can determine how much the administrator of Prince’s estate should give to the late artist’s family members for living expenses.
With Prince’s siblings blocked from receiving any money from Prince’s estate till the issue is settled, the siblings are allegedly scrambling for ways to make money and according to new media reports, they’ve discovered that way to make some cash is to do a TV special about Prince.
According to the report, 3-4 of the six siblings are on board for a plan to create a two-hour TV special that would involve major music producers and famous artists performing Prince’s songs as a tribute to the late artist. As a part of the TV package, all six siblings would be considered executive producers of the special and be able to make enough money to hold them over until a judge can decide how much money the bank should dole out to the siblings.
However, there’s reportedly one major road block in the matter. Sources say that Nelson and at least one other sibling are not on board with the plan and that Nelson wants to do a TV special of her own that she would have control over.
The sources say that not only are the half-siblings furious with Nelson for not agreeing to their TV special plan, but they’re also angry that she’s allegedly been living rent free in a home that Prince owned, which the bank related to the case is still paying mortgage and home-related expenses on. The half-siblings allegedly feels it’s unfair that Nelson is still benefitting off their brother while they’ve stopped receiving any benefits from his estate while his assets are frozen.
Reportedly, more than a dozen lawyers are representing the siblings and they met up last week in what the source described as an all-out mess. “it’s gotten really nasty. No one can agree on anything,” said the source.
Well, considering how bad things have been going over Prince’s money, we’re not surprised that the siblings allegedly can’t agree on a TV special either.
