On Sunday, May 22, Nick Cannon announced that his grandfather, James Cannon Sr., had passed away. In honor of his loved one’s legacy, the “America’s Got Talent” host shared a “celebration” series of Instagram snaps memorializing their relationship.

“Love you Pops! I feel you already! To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord,” wrote Cannon, quoting from the Bible — alongside a collage of images featuring the grandfather-grandson duo’s best red carpet moments. “It’s a celebration!”

In a second post, the Cannon men showed off their Sunday best. “Man I’m gonna miss these Sundays…” read the caption.

In another post, the 35-year-old shared a family snap highlighting a precious moment with “pops” and son Moroccan, writing: “Will forever cherish this moment!” But it was Cannon’s initial response to his grandfathers death, that may have summed up his feelings best: “Rest in Power My Guy!”

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Cannon and his loved ones. Send them your condolences in the comment section below.
