When Beyoncé dropped her critically acclaimed Lemonade album in April, fans across the globe collectively dropped their jaws when Bey accused her husband, Jay Z, of having cheated on her with a woman that she referred to as “Becky with the good hair.” Immediately afterward, her BeyHive fans went on a wild hunt to find her and accused a number of women, including fashion designer Rachel Roy, of being “Becky.” Now, months after the dust settled on the drama, Roy’s ex-husband, Dame Dash, is weighing in on the controversy.
According to media reports, Dash recently sat down for a new interview and was asked about how he felt regarding all of the hate and accusations thrown at his ex-wife, who vehemently denied that she had ever slept with Jay Z or disrupted another woman’s marriage. According to Dash, he was less concerned with the public drama and more concerned with how it affected their kids.
“The only issue I had was them putting pressure on my children …” Dash said. “For me it’s the history between me and Jay, me being his partner at the time in Roc-A-Fella and Rocawear and all that and best friend … of course, on a human level, it would bother me.”
Dash then explained that he was able to deal with the drama with the help of his Vh1 “Family Therapy” co-star, Dr. Jenn.
“But I only addressed it with a therapist, Dr. Jenn, because I also did that therapy show,” Dash said. “I didn’t address it until I got to address it professionally and so I believe in therapy. I believe an objective opinion sometimes helps you be a better person and a referee. And, you know, I’m human.”
Thankfully, Dash also explained that the kids have done well in dealing with the drama.
“Tallula is oblivious, so we just blocked her Instagram. Ava took it like a champ. You know what I’m saying, she gave no … I don’t wanna say it,” Dash said.
