The way Kelly Rowland’s body snapped back into shape following the birth of her first child, son Titan Jewell, was enough to make any woman set #MotherhoodGoals. The fact that she traveled to this year’s Essence Music Festival with her now toddler son and she still has a glow, creates a new girl-has-got-it-all-and-then-some envy.
To think, when she interviewed with PEOPLE magazine in the spring and shared her doubts and fears saying, “When I found out that I was going to be a mother, I was the mother who didn’t know that I had patience. I was really scared about being a mother, just simply because I didn’t think I had enough. When my son was born, I was like, ‘Oh my God, I don’t know where this patience came from!’” she says with a laugh. “I was really happy, and that made me feel better about being a mom.”
In another interview with Parents magazine, she adds, “I was nervous that I didn’t have the patience to be a good mom, because before Titan I had zero. But now I am very patient. The Bible verse ‘love is patient’ is real! I don’t make the little things into big issues like I once did. My OCD had to go out the window. My living room looks like a freaking day care!”
Back in May of this year, rolling out caught up with the “Motivation” singer who shared some motherhood secrets.
What is his book collection like?
He has books galore. There are books all over our house. The love of reading is what my husband and I wanted him to embrace. I actually read to him when I was pregnant. I think it still stimulates him. He still loves it. He loves to read while we’re on the porch.
What is your favorite book to read to him?
Right now, he loves Brown Bear, Brown Bear. He loves the book his dad reads to him, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. He likes books with colors and books that rhyme.
