It’s no secret that Adele is one of the biggest celebrities in the entire world. And when you reach the level of fame that she has, the assumption is, understandably, that she never has any financial problems to worry about. But Adele completely broke down that assumption in a hilarious way recently when she revealed that not too long ago she had her card declined at, of all places, H&M.
Adele made the surprising revelation during a recent tour stop in San Jose, California, when she explained to the audience how she had a rough day. The “Hello” singer shared that she was mortified and embarrassed during a recent shopping trip to H&M and when was told by the H&M cashier that her credit card had been declined.
“I went to H&M and my card got declined,” she said. “Oh my day’s pretty embarrassing. Nobody knew it was me, but I was mortified.”
Adele also revealed that the day was made even more bizarre because of an incident with her dog.
“My dog tried to claw another dog,” Adele explained, before sharing that she took solace in the fact that most people in H&M had no clue who she was when her card was declined. “My trip to H&M was great … but no one knew it was me so I think I’m going to get away with it.”
Adele then spoke with audience about her shopping sprees at Sephora and Target that took place before her H&M fiasco.
“They have everything!” she told the audience. “I spent $100 on stuff I do not need, I never need anything I buy at Target but it’s amazing.”
Well, even though Adele reportedly earned over $80 million last year, it looks like even she has problems with money management just like the rest of us.
