Up-and-coming rapper Vic Mensa has never been shy about giving his opinion on the ways of the world around him and his conscious and political thoughts are part of what make him a growing star in the hip-hop community. So it comes as no surprise that the outspoken MC had a lot to say this week when he and his friends were stopped by police in what he’s calling an example of racial profiling.

According to Mensa, the drama started when he and friends went on a shopping spree at a Beverly Hills Barneys store and spent $4,000 on clothes. Things seemed well for the rapper and the crew as they left the store with their items, but shortly afterward they were pulled over by Beverly Hills police who questioned them about stealing from the Barneys location.

Shocked and frustrated, Mensa began posting videos to his Snapchat as he pointed the camera toward the police officers as they were being questioned on the side of the road.

“I’m tired of dealing with these motherf—–s, man,” he said as he pointed his camera at a police officer. “Over here just giving a n—- trouble for all types of stupid s—. We didn’t steal s—. I go in Barneys and spend four racks and get accused of stealing.”

Mensa then explained in his videos that the police weren’t even sure of what Mensa and his crew had been accused of stealing from the store.

“That’s the craziest part about it, I went and bought some ill Saint Laurent boots, some more s— from Barneys, and we get all pulled out the f—ing car and get accused of stealing. And on top of that, they don’t even know what they think we stole,” he said.

“You can’t be a young black man out here doing anything legal, positive, and you still get treated like a criminal. We don’t have to steal s— man, we could buy nicer s— than you buy for your wife right now.”

After the cops pulled Mensa over and searched his car, they discovered that neither the rapper nor his friends had any stolen items in the vehicle. And although Mensa claims he was racially profiled, a rep for the police department states the officers were just doing their job after a manager from the Barneys store called the police and accused the rapper of stealing merchandise.

Despite the incident, reportedly Mensa has no plans on filing a lawsuit and he just wants to move on from the ordeal.
