An artist collective that goes by the name “INDECLINE” has created a stir with a guerrilla art exhibition that has been installed in major cities. The collective has created a nude and unflattering statue of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. One of the statues was placed in the busy Union Square section of New York City as busy commuters stopped to laugh and take selfies with the “Donald”.
According to the artist collective the statue is titled “The Emperor Has No Ba**s” and features Trump with normal hands and small genitals. Copies of the statue also appeared in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Cleveland and Seattle. The artists took their inspiration from the children’s tale “The Emperor has no clothes” in which a ruler is tricked into parading naked in front of his subjects. According to a statement issued by the artists involved in the project they wanted to draw a similarity to dictators who erect statues of themselves. In a statement released to media the artist collective INDECLINE stated “Like it or not, Trump is a larger-than-life figure in world culture at the moment. Looking back in history, that’s how those figures were memorialized and idolized in their time – with statues.”
The statue that was erected in New York City stayed in place for around two hours before it was removed by employees of the Department of Parks and Recreation. The city department then issued a tongue-in-cheek statement that reads “NYC Parks stands firmly against any unpermitted erection in city parks, no matter how small.”
Trump famously interjected the size of his penis during his presidential debate by saying that he had big hands which implied he had a big penis. One of the artists involved in making the statue is known by the name Ginger and works in the film industry designing monsters. In statements to media she explained that she went to great lengths to satirically display the images of power that Trump likes to exude and worked at length on his pot belly and saggy old man’s butt.
