Emmy Awards were awarded on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, and if you’re a fan or a cast member of HBO fantasy drama “Game of Thrones” you are ecstatic. “GOT” broke the record for the highest number of Emmy Awards won by any fictional series. And the show has trumped “Frasier” (which starred Kelsey Grammar), which had the record of 37; “Game of Thrones” now has 38 and counting.
It didn’t come as a surprise that FX’s “The People vs OJ Simpson: American Crime Story” a dramatization of the OJ Simpson trial of the ’90s, would be a big winner. It took home five golden statues.
The show won five trophies, including outstanding limited series plus acting gongs for actors Sarah Paulson (Marcia Clark), Sterling K. Brown (Christopher Darden) and Courtney B. Vance (Johnnie L. Cochran).
