Kanye West’s mental breakdown has had the world watching him through a sharp lens as fans try to figure out what exactly went wrong in his life and why the rapper had to be hospitalized last week following a shocking concert rant. In the weeks that have followed, there have been many allegations about West’s mental state, but a new report claims that the cause of the breakdown is West’s own medications.

As fans will remember, just two days after he abruptly blasted Jay Z and Beyoncé during a California concert, the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a 911 call at a Beverly Grove, California, address that escalated from a “disturbance” to a “medical emergency.”

West was transported to UCLA Medical Center where he was allegedly being treated for issues such as “exhaustion,” stress or a full psychotic breakdown. Reports even claimed that West was suffering from the strain of his wife, Kim Kardashian, being robbed at gunpoint in Paris weeks before the breakdown.

This week, West was finally released from the hospital and now reports are claiming that doctors discovered that the real reason that he needed treatment was because he wasn’t taking the proper dosage of his usual meds. Sources say that West has long been taking medications to deal with psychological issues that he’s suffered with for years.

As other stories have said, the sources say that the West’s decision to deviate from his meds came from Kardashian’s robbery and that the stress of her near-death experience has had him under immense mental stress. It’s not clear if West stopped taking some of his meds or if he stopped taking them altogether, but sources say that doctor’s were able to get West back on his proper med regimen during his 8-day stay.

However, now that West is out of the hospital, it’s up to him to make sure he continues taking his meds as ordered.
