It looks like multi-talented tennis superstar Serena Williams is tying the knot soon. Today she posted the following on her verified Reedit account “I came home. A little late. Someone had a bag packed for me. And a carriage waited. Destination: Rome. To escort me to my very own ‘charming.’ Back to where our stars first collided. And now it was full circle. At the same table we first met by chance. But by choice. Down on knee. He said 4 words. And I said yes.” Williams is now engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. He is a self-made technology entrepreneur who has a net worth of between $4-6 million.
A spokesperson for Ohanian confirmed that he “popped the question” while the two were vacationing in Rome. Ohanian also confirmed the engagement on his Facebook page, and linked it to Williams’ Reedit post and adding: “She said yes.”
The couple has been dating since the fall of 2015 and has remained low key in public. Williams has however posted pictures of the pair to Instagram at various times throughout their relationship.
