Janet Jackson has started her new year off with a bang.
The Grammy-winning singer has given birth to her first child, a son, Eissa Al Manna. According to multiple outlets, the 50-year-old welcomed her baby boy on Tuesday, Jan. 3. “Janet Jackson and husband Wissam Al Mana are thrilled to welcome their new son Eissa Al Mana into the world,” her rep said in a statement. “Janet had a stress free, healthy delivery and is resting comfortably. No further details are available at this time.”
While the “Nasty” singer has been quite mum about the details surrounding her pregnancy. In a recent interview with People magazine, Jackson revealed her excitement over the arrival of her bundle of joy, telling the mag, “We thank God for our blessing.”
As previously reported, her journey has been riddled with bumps. In September, sources close to Jackson claimed that she had ballooned to over 250 pounds, placing her at risk of developing gestational diabetes, a condition that increases the risk of pre-eclampsia, depression, and possible Caesarean section. However, weeks after the initial health scare, a second source revealed that the star’s condition appeared to be improving, telling E! News, “She is doing OK and resting until she is due for her baby.” The insider added, “[Janet] is aware of complications, but as of now doctors say she is OK.”
Now, with the baby here, it’s safe to say that Jackson and loved ones alike overjoyed the big news. “How exciting! Jan and Wissam just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy!!! Congratulations!!!,” LaToya Jackson wrote via Twitter.
Meanwhile, TJ Jackson sent a special message of his own to his auntie tweeting: “Congrats Auntie!! So so happy for you & Wissam. Enjoy every minute with your greatest hit, Eissa. #parenthoodisthebest.”
