Chaos erupted shortly after 1 p.m. at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The gunman shot 13 people, eight are being treated at a local hospital. The shooting occurred at Terminal 2 baggage claim, which is a Delta terminal. Esteban Santiago has been identified as the first shooter. Santiago is reportedly a 26-year-old male who was born in New Jersey and was in possession of a military ID.

Police have also suggested that another shooter could possibly be on the run.

The airport is currently on shutdown as departures and arrivals have been canceled. Passengers and airport employees are being held at the airport as the investigation continues.

The shooting sheds light on why gun control continues to be a major problem in America. The easy access to guns and relaxed gun laws continue to affect lives across the nation.

More details will be released as the story develops.
