What inspires you to show up at work every day?

The opportunity to literally change someone’s life. By healing their skin, I am able to give them a confidence they sometimes didn’t even know existed.

How did you determine your career path?

I have always loved making people feel beautiful from the time I was a very young girl. Being encouraged to style my own hair transitioned into me to styling my family and friends hair, which eventually evolved into makeup artistry. I planned to pursue makeup artistry as a career, but my mother suggested I get certified in esthiology (skin care) to be more marketable in the makeup field. I just so happened to fall deeply in love with skin care while makeup naturally went on the back burner.

Describe the skill sets that will be essential to future business leader sand innovators?

Marketing and customer service. Plain and simple. It’s important to gain experience in both areas.

What innovative methods do you apply to your business and life?

I am constantly creating new methods and techniques for facial services I perform to provide even better results.

How do you set goals and evaluate your success?

I think of what goal I want to accomplish and write it out. I create small tasks and write them out in a list format with a timeframe next to them. I evaluate my success by understanding the “big picture” of my business and determine how near or far I am from accomplishing it.

Names three books that changed how you saw life that you would recommend to others?

Conversations with God, Think and Grow Rich, Skinny B—h.

Describe why lifelong learning is important to you.

First of all, the mind stays sharp. Also, there are many resources for education these days, which allows me to always stay at the top of my game in business and personal life. Knowledge is power!

What are the three most important factors of being a successful woman?

  1. Staying professional at all times and at all costs.
  2. Let your female intuition run the show because that’s what makes us special in life and in business.
  3. As a woman, we have a lot of responsibility from family to career. Learn to balance all moving parts the best you can.

What role does technology play in your daily life?

Technology plays a part in running my business as a whole, from e-commerce, to client retention. Technology also  plays the role of marketing which is the biggest factor in my daily business life.

What social media or digital tool has made the biggest difference in your life and why?

Instagram! Consumers love to be reassured time and time again that this is the business they are willing to trust with something so important, their skin! So to have access to daily posts, which may include before and after pictures, gives them confidence in my business.

If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?

I would change the fact that money and material things “make the world go around”. The way we survive, the way we measure success, would not be based on actual currency. There would be another structure put in place that allowed everyone a fair chance at life.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I would reverse my stage fright. I admire the women that can stand tall in front of a large crowd and be herself without over thinking it.

Who or what motivates you and why?

My clients motivate me. They constantly remind me of how happy they are with their progress and results. I receive heartfelt messages daily from clients expressing gratitude. It reassures me that I am doing at least one of the things I was put on this earth to do, help heal people physically and emotionally.

What are the do’s and don’ts for young women in business?

Do hit the ground running. Business is a numbers game, the more you try and fail the closer you are to success.

Don’t fail to plan. Plan every step of the way, even though hardly anything will go as planned, but you are able to track your progress, and see how close or far you are from your original goals.

How do you successfully grow from business failure?

You successfully grow from business failure by analyzing why you failed. You then start over again, as many times as necessary.
