Whether it’s tech, film, or music, SXSW is the premier festival that serves as a litmus test for what’s next.  For the second year, the South X Coalition Stage will introduce a slew of new rap artists who are poised to take over in hip-hop. Presented by Dutch Masters, the South X Coalition Stage will feature a collaboration with the Coalition DJs and Akon. Taking place on March 18 at New York, New York, the event will showcase music by the world-renowned Coalition DJs and Konvict Kartel.

The South X Coalition Stage will also highlight some of the top new artists in hip-hop. Along with a headlining performance by Akon, special guests will include Scotty ATL, Ace Hood, Kissie Lee, OG Boo Dirty and Tone Tone.

OG Boo Dirty and Tone Tone represent the future of the Konvict Kartel. OG Boo Dirty has released several mixtapes, including the acclaimed trilogy Definition of A G, The Story of OG, and Definition of A G 2. He eventually signed with Akon’s Konvict Muzik and recently released the album, Billionaire Dreams.

Detroit native Tone Tone solidified himself with the 11627 mixtape and represents a new era of the Motor City’s hip-hop sound.

“I learned from Akon that it is bigger than music,” Tone Tone said. “We do it for the people. But Akon has showed me how to structure my music better. Everybody just respects Akon.”

South X Coalition Stage at SXSW will kick off at 9 p.m. on March 18.
