There is a Madonna biopic in the works and the pop star is not happy about it. Blond Ambition, a screenplay by Elyse Holland, landed at the top of 2016’s Black List of the industry’s best unproduced scripts and has been given the greenlight by Universal Studios.
The singer states on an Instagram post, “Nobody knows what I know and what I have seen. Only I can tell my story. Anyone else who tries is a charlatan and a fool looking for instant gratification without doing the work. This is a disease in our society.” Madonna’s frustration seems to stem from her lack of involvement in telling her own story.
The script’s description says that the film will focus on Madonna’s early life in the gritty NYC streets of the early ’80s, navigating through her love life and a music industry that treats women as disposable.
