A Mississippi man has accused R. Kelly of ruining his marriage.
According to a new complaint obtained by local news outlet WAPT, the R&B crooner is being sued by a Mississippi sheriff’s deputy who claims that the singer carried on a five-year affair with his wife.
Per Fox News, Kenny Bryant alleges that his wife Asia Childress rekindled a relationship with the “Bump and Grind” recording artist in October 2012, after attending one of his concerts. According to multiple outlets, Kelly and Childress had previously been intimate, but it was believed that it all came to an end prior to her and Bryant’s July 2012 nuptials.
Bryant, who works at the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department in Jackson, went on to allege that during the first few months following the new affair, Kelly gave Childress a sexually transmitted disease: chlamydia. As for how they carried on, Bryant claims Childress convinced him to quit his job and move to Atlanta — where Kelly is believed to reside — to further “her career.” However, she had an “ulterior motive.” Which was “to foster her adulterous relationship with R. Kelly.”
He also claimed that his wife and her lover communicated frequently via text and would meet in other states, including Tennessee, Georgia and North Carolina, where Kelly was performing. While Bryant revealed that Childress has since filed for divorce in order to continue her alleged affair, the move was “financially ruinous” and he’s seeking damages.
According to the suit, Bryant is seeking compensatory and punitive damages of an undisclosed amount and hopes to “punish [R. Kelly], make an example of him to others, and to deter him and other similarly-situated defendants from engaging in adulterous conduct in the future, in the service of public interest.”
Meanwhile, neither Childress or Kelly have responded to the claim. What are your thoughts on the matter? Sound off in the comment section below.
