On Friday, June 30, Netflix kicked off its debut presence at the 2017 ESSENCE Festival in New Orleans with a little help from the cast members of “Dear White People” and “Orange Is The New Black.” Fans filled Center Stage as the cast of “Dear White People” gathered onstage for the special news announcing the renewal of Season 2 of the popular original Netflix series. Fans enjoyed a special moment with Marque Richardson, Ashley Blaine Featherson, Logan Browning, Antoinette Robertson, DeRon Horton and Brandon P. Bell who played a game of “Winchester Confidential,” voting for the “most likely to…”

Later joining the cast was “Orange Is the New Black’s” Dascha Polanco, Selenis Leyva and Adrienne Moore in the Fan Zone Meet & Greet where festival goers got a chance to meet their favorite cast members, snap a photo and more.

In an exclusive moment for the festival festivalgoers were rewarded with a sneak peek at Mary J. Blige in Mudbound during the Strength of a Woman panel. In the upcoming Netflix film MUDBOUND, directed by Dee Rees, Blige plays Florence Jackson.

In the evening, the love continued at the red carpet premiere of the Netflix original film Naked starring Marlon Wayans, Regina Hall, Loretta Devine and Dennis Haysbert at the Civic Theatre in the heart of New Orleans. The romantic comedy, which premieres on Netflix on August 11th, follows Rob Anderson (Wayans) as he is all set to marry the girl of his dreams, but can’t quite get to the altar. Every time he’s ready to walk down the aisle, he finds himself waking up naked in his hotel elevator, forced to relive the beginning of his wedding day over and over again.
