Wendy Williams and Angie Martinez have a complicated history, thanks to their once violent feud back when they were both radio hosts at New York’s famous Hot 97 radio station. Although both women have now moved on and up in the industry, it looks like their rivalry might still be alive and well because reports are claiming that Williams had a major meltdown recently when she found out that Martinez is getting her own daytime talk show that’s going to be produced by the same production company that handles Williams’ own show.
According to reports, a source says that executives for the Debmar-Mercury production company told Williams at a lunch meeting with the talk show host and her husband/manager Kevin Hunter. The source claims that Williams immediately burst into tears and that her husband kept yelling, “This is some bulls**t!”
“Apparently, it was a dramatic blow up in the back of the restaurant. Lots of screaming, yelling and swearing. No matter how the TV execs explained that it was not a conflict of interest, Wendy and Kevin just weren’t hearing it,” the source revealed.
The source says that Williams was so angry that she referred to Martinez as a “b***h” during the blowup.
“I can’t believe that b**** is getting a show with them. This is such a betrayal!” said Williams, allegedly, to her team.
Well, this isn’t the first time that Williams and Martinez have had beef. Back in 2016, Martinez revealed in her memoir that she once attacked Williams in the Hot 97 offices after she heard Williams claim on the radio that Martinez’s then-boyfriend, rapper Q-Tip, was gay.
“I lost my f–king mind. Before I knew it I was swinging at her. It was a quick scuffle. It took only a few seconds for me to realize that she wasn’t really hitting me back — she was just trying to get me off of her,” wrote Martinez in the book.
However, the source claims that the blow up is about more than Martinez; it’s also about Hunter’s alleged longterm affair with another woman, which just made headlines in the last few weeks.
‘No one is sure whether she already knew of Kevin’s affair or was shocked by the news. Whatever the case, she is more embarrassed the veil has been lifted off her life. The woman who gossips about everyone else’s life for a living is now making headlines of her own,’ the source said.
