Usher’s herpes accuser drops $20M lawsuit after new evidence surfaces

Usher dodged a major problem after new evidence surfaced in his herpes case. According to court docs, Usher was being sued by Laura Helm for $20 million.

Helm claimed that she engaged in unprotected sex with Usher and she caught herpes following the encounter. Usher denied the claim that came after several other people came forward with similar accusations. Quantasia Sharpton came forward with lawyer Lisa Bloom and said she was exposed to herpes after sex with Usher. Sharpton faced body-shaming and her case, this far, has gone nowhere. Another person came forward and claimed Usher exposed them to herpes. However, this person was a man who claimed he had sex with Usher in a spa in Los Angeles.

But while Usher denied having sex with any of his accusers, Helm appeared to have solid argument in the beginning. She is a resident in metro Atlanta and could have possibly had contact with Usher due to her affiliation with the city’s entertainment industry. Helm claimed that she would have long conversations with Usher and their relationship eventually became sexual. She said Usher took showers before and after they would have sex and would run out of the room after their encounters.

But Helm’s case fell apart after an audio recording emerged, according to TMZ. During a conversation that was reportedly recorded two days before she filed a lawsuit, Helm said that a condom was used during each sexual encounter.

Helm’s lawyer decided to withdraw from the case and a new lawyer dismissed the case without prejudice “with intent to refile.” The case proves that due process must be given before the judgement that takes place in the court of public opinion.

Usher has yet to respond to the recent development.
