LeBron James and Cavs stop rallying Hawks to win 10 straight

It’s safe to say that the Cleveland Cavs have hit their stride. The Cavs moved their winning streak to 10 by defeating the Hawks by a score of 121-114.

The young Hawks have struggled this season, but they managed to previously beat the Cavs 117-115 on Nov. 5. Throughout the matchup, the Hawks showed fight and went into halftime with a slight lead. The Hawks were led by Dennis Schroder who scored 27 and Ersan Ilyasova who followed with 22 points.

Kevin Love led the Cavs with 25 points, but LeBron James, as always, was the team’s engine. James scored 25 points, 12 assists, and added 6 rebounds. He also recorded two jaw-dropping blocks against Taurean Prince and Schroder. The block against Schroder occurred in the 4th quarter as the Hawks were attempting to rally in the finals minutes of the game.

Following the game, James spoke about the Cavs winning streak by saying, “We understand how we got here. And that’s defense and the way we’ve been playing offensively. If you win 10-plus games in any sport, major sport, that’s very, very good.”

Dwayne Wade, who scored 19 off of the bench , also spoke about the team’s winning streak by adding, “We’re playing good basketball but even the games that we haven’t played great, we found ways to win. We played great in certain moments of the game. So, we’re not there yet from a standpoint of where we’re watching and we’re looking at the streak, but 10 in a row to end this month, it was a good win.”

The Cavs are currently in third place in the Eastern Conference just behind the Detroit Pistons and Boston Celtics.

The Hawks are currently 4-17 on the season.
