After much speculation, innuendos and hint-dropping, singer-actress Jennifer Lopez finally confirmed she is working with rising superstar Cardi B on new music.
Reports began to swirl furiously after DJ Khaled let it slip accidentally during an interview.
According to WENN, Khaled coughed up the goods while thanking J.Lo for including him on her latest project and then gushing over the irrepressibly jovial and effervescent Cardi B. He then insisted, “everything’s top secret.”
“Cardi B, man, she’s doing her thing. God bless her,” the deejay said. “To get in the game, these are the rewards and the accomplishments that we all work hard for… It’s a drive to make you keep going more and more and more and more. Nothing but love for Cardi B and all the new artists out there doing their thing.”
J-Lo has since come out and said the Cardi B collab is definitely going down.
“Yes, we are going to do a song together,” she told ” Extra” while promoting season 2 of her NBC series “World of Dance.” “We’re not putting it out just yet. I’ve been teasing it a little bit.”
Meanwhile, DJ Khaled has revealed he is working on another top secret project with Kendrick Lamar.
Calling the collaboration “something monumental,” the producer tells Rolling Stone, “We’ve been talking about it. I know when I do get my opportunity to present something with Khaled and Kendrick, I want it to be something monumental… and I got something up my sleeve.”
Regarding Cardi and J-Lo, it seems apropos the two Bronx-bred beauties with hustler mentalities would join forces inside the studio.
Back in December, Lopez teased a possible Cardi collaboration during a conversation with DJ Khaled, which was captured on Instagram and shared on YouTube. “Do you think we should add more Cardi ad-libs?” Lopez asks Khaled in the video.
Then on Saturday, Jan. 20, J.Lo headlined the 11th annual Calibash concert, during which she previewed a new Spanglish track titled “Yo Quiero Dinero” (“I Want Money”), hinting at said collaboration with Cardi.
Jennifer Lopez was said to have brought the house down with a fiery performance at Calibash inside the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Among the fans cheering her on in the audience was “Bartier Cardi” emcee Cardi B, who watched Lopez cover her smash hit “Bodak Yellow” during a medley.
Cardi captioned the photo above, “This is a Bronx girl dream :’)I just can’t believe I.T ❤️❤️❤️ The mother @jlo”
