Pastor Kenneth Glasgow is being charged with capital murder. Glasgow, who is reportedly the half-brother of Al Sharpton, is being accused of being a driver in a crime that led to a woman’s death.
According to reports by police in Dothan, Alabama, Glasgow, 52, was with Jamie Townes, 26, when the crime occurred. Townes claimed that a woman stole his car and he began searching for her with Glasgow’s help.
At some point, the two encountered the woman, Breunia Jennings, 23, and Townes reportedly shot the woman in her head causing the car to crash.
The day before the incident, Glasgow participated in the March For Our Lives protests which took place in Dothan, Alabama.
Glasgow founded The Ordinary People Society after a stint in prison. His legal name is Kenneth Sharpton, but he decided to use his mother’s maiden name because he did not want to tarnish Al Sharpton’s legacy. Glasgow also feared that racists would attack him due to having the last name Sharpton.
The case has shocked many because Glasgow has served as a community leader in Dothan, Alabama for years. It’s possible that his legal defense will say that he was not responsible for Townes’ actions.
At press time, Al Sharpton has yet to share his thoughts on the arrest and charge that his half-brother has received.
