On July 2, 2019, Jada Russell, public relations powerhouse and owner of High Style Marketing and PR (HSMPR), died following her battle with breast cancer.

Her husband, Chef Julius Russell, released a statement via Facebook earlier in the day that read: “This statement comes with a heavy heart. In April of 2019, my lovely wife Jada Russell was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Since that time, while being in treatment, it has continued to spread. I ask that you please pray for her and our family. And thank you for your support during this time.”

Jada Russell’s Chicago-based firm, HSMPR, is considered the gold standard when it comes to public relation firms and has paired her with prominent individuals such as Valarie Jarrett, Jessie Jackson, Bobby Rush, and Dwayne Wade. Her work was impeccable and the outpouring of love via social media points to the impact she had on the community.

Take a look at a few of the Facebook posts below.

Words like “professional,” “stylish,” “supportive” and “loving” cascade down the timelines in honor of Russell. Her reputation preceded her. Blogger and social media influencer Luvvie Ajayi also shared her experience with the PR icon via Facebook:

“I’m stunned. Hearing that Jada Russell passed has me stunned. Back when I was a baby blogger, before the glow up, this woman saw me and supported my work. Over the years, Jada was only a phone call away….I’m stunned that she’s no longer here. And that cliché adage about life being short is too true. The world just got that less fabulous. All my love to Chef Julius and everyone who was fortunate enough to know her and her magic. Rest well, Jada. You lived well. 🙏🏾”
