Believe in God and yourself, have faith, obey your parents, reach out to help others.


Why is it important for women of color to work in leadership roles and decision-making capacities?

Women of color, as well as all women, should work in all capacities, including leadership, to express different points of view. It is also important for women of all colors to work together collectively.

Why is it important for experienced Black women to reach back and help younger women of color?

Age, time and experience produce maturity and wisdom.

What are three success habits you implement into your daily routine to maintain your success, sanity and peace of mind?

Daily reading of the Bible, staying busy and productive, taking daily walks in the neighborhood.

As a successful woman in the entertainment business, what are your proudest achievements?

Being inducted into the Black College Hall of Fame. Also receiving the NAACP Award for Soul Food and a Primetime Emmy Award for [the 1999 television movie] “A Lesson Before Dying” because each role taught important life lessons.
