Cardi B’s rep initially released a statement denying she was not a gang member. However, Cardi B would later post on Twitter that she was a member of the Brim Bloods and not the Nine Trey.
Tekashi also told prosecutors that rapper Jim Jones was a “retired rapper” and member of the Nine Trey Bloods after police played an audio recording of a phone conversation between Jones and other members of the gang. During the conversation, Jones was heard telling gang members that Tekashi needed to be “violated” for his snitching.
Gang member Anthony Ellison is also being tried for his links to the alleged kidnapping and beating of Hernandez last year.
Fearing for his safety, Tekashi is being held in a jail unit with other inmates who have agreed to testify against their former criminal counterparts.
