The holiday season is fast approaching, and that means people will begin celebrating all of the festivities that come with this time of year — ice skating with loved ones, special family traditions and children making wish lists. However, nothing is better than reading a good book during this time.

Here are five books that you can enjoy while snuggled up by the fireplace, or sipping hot cocoa in your favorite chair, or taking a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle during the holidays.


The Water Dancer by Ta-Nehisi Coates

This compelling novel by award-winning writer Ta-Nehisi Coates tells the story of a young slave named Hiram Walker who has supernatural powers. Walker uses his skills to go on a quest to understand his abilities and free his family from the chains of slavery and life on the plantation.
