The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead
The Nickel Boys is a story set during the civil rights era and follows the Southern Black boy, Elwood, who practices Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s philosophy of nonviolence. However, when Elwood is placed in a juvenile reformatory school where staff violently abuse the boys, he begins to question his beliefs about loving your enemies.
