Describe the skills that will be essential to future entrepreneurs, business leaders and innovators.
First and foremost is faith and determination. If you’re starting as an entrepreneur, you won’t have all the answers. You have to have faith that your efforts will end up in creating something special. Second, you have to be genuinely interested in your industry. Too many entrepreneurs start businesses for the money without having a genuine interest in their product or service. If you’re interested, you’ll have a leg up because you will constantly be searching to better yourself, your business and your brand. Lastly, you have to be willing to take risks. Entrepreneurship is a vulnerable walk. If you’re willing to take risks in the face of naysayers, financial pressures, etc., you’re on the right track.
How do you set goals and evaluate your success?
I set monthly goals and then I create my daily tasks that map to those goals. When I create small and attainable goals to accomplish, I feel great by knocking them off my to-do list. It keeps the momentum up and I feel empowered instead of discouraged. Too many entrepreneurs set a super lofty goal with no direct tasks tied to it and get discouraged when they don’t accomplish their goal. Breaking those goals down into attainable pieces helps with your emotional well-being and translates into actually achieving your goals.
