Tisha Campbell is returning to television in a new series entitled, “Outmatched” on the Fox network. Tisha’s character, Rita, acts as an advisor to a couple with genius children. Although audiences will no doubt be excited to see Campbell back on screen, she is going through a personal transition after a difficult divorce from long-time husband and actor Duane Martin.

Rumors of infidelity and bankruptcy as the mother of a special needs child, Campbell has had to work hard to achieve her work-life balance. She shared with us why she is excited about this new show, her apprehension about returning to the dating world and why the negative blog posts never throw her off her game.

What are some life lessons you’ve learned in parenting that you can share?

There’s no rule book. You can’t beat yourself up. All you can do is the best that you can do and try to be better than what your parents did for you. The way that I parent as a special needs parent is different than a typical parent. The way that I’m excited about every single thing and every single moment in their lives might be more exaggerated because we’ve been through so much and my kids are such champions for me. I’ve learned so much. I’ve learned patience. I’ve learned how to let go because ultimately, I want them to be independent of me.
