One of those choices would obviously be Sen. Kamala Harris, D-California. The former California attorney general could “can be the president one day herself. She can be the vice president. She can go on to be a Supreme Court justice,” he said, according to the New York Times. The caveat to a Harris choice is that Biden would not need her to win the already very blue state of California, the Washington Post points out.
Another popular choice within the Democratic Party is Stacey Abrams, the former Georgia House minority leader and a rising star in the party. She gained national notoriety when she nearly became the first female and African American governor of Georgia. Biden could use her enormous popularity to try to win the red state of Georgia.
Another minority candidate who is under consideration, according to the Washington Post, is Michelle Lujan Grisham, the current governor of New Mexico. Her selection could be leveraged to shore up the growing Hispanic electorate in his favor.
