You’ve been known for doing yoga sessions and your dinners featuring your delectable cuisine at Tree Sound are famous. How important are yoga and meditation during this time to help creatives stay balanced?
I feel like everything I’ve been doing has prepared me for this time. I’ve been teaching yoga and meditation and healthy eating. Every morning I start with meditation and just breathe. I don’t take my phone in my bedroom at night so I don’t wake up to the noise. I wake up and give myself an opportunity to breathe and meditate — to get centered. Then I start my day; it makes a big difference.
EarthgirlATL had several huge collaborations come from it, one of which was a collaboration with Nike and Finish Line. Can you share any surprises for EarthgirlATL 2020?
The collaboration with Finish Line was amazing. They asked me to be a part of this national women’s campaign and I wanted our girls to be a part of it and they agreed. We are also blessed to have had the opportunity to co-create a catalog with Anita Chinkes Ratner and the amazing women at Viacom. As for Earthgirl, the movement has already grown beyond even what we anticipated and so we’re looking to have experiences in California and several other places. Creatives can follow our page at @earthgirlatl and my page @iam_mali for updates.
