Janet Hubert confronts Will Smith over causing her to ‘lose everything’ (video)

“Words can kill. I lost everything. Reputation, everything, everything,” she said. “I understand you were able to move forward, but you know those words, calling a Black woman difficult in Hollywood is the kiss of death. It’s the kiss of death. It’s hard enough being a dark-skinned black woman in this business.”

Hubert added that she was embroiled in a tumultuous situation on the homefront while she was pregnant and involved in an abusive marriage.

Smith admitted he didn’t understand the ramifications of his words and actions until he had three children of his own and went through a divorce.

“I can see where I made the set very difficult for Janet,” he surmised.

In the end, Hubert expressed gratitude that she was able to spend time with Smith after nearly three decades of hard feelings.

“My heart is so full right now,” she exclaimed on Twitter. “Will, you have freed me from this prison. Thank you!”

Later, Hubert returned to Twitter to add: “Thanks for all of the love … and understanding especially you Will. It was amazing to see you all again. Be Blessed. This is my story all about how … healing happened.”
