Coco and Breezy partner with Zenni for Black children’s mental health

How did your challenges make you resilient?

Coco: When we were younger, we always got bullied. We were always these eclectic, artsy Black girls. Instead of us being home sad and not fitting in, we decided to be super creative.

Breezy: What made us really resilient is that we came from a humble household. We knew that we were just getting by. When Coco and I quit everything and saved a little money to move to New York, we were so passionate because we had nothing to lose.

How did you end up working with Prince?

Coco: We got a random message on Facebook saying: “Prince is in New York and wants to meet with you guys at The House of Blues.” We didn’t write back because we didn’t think it was Prince.

A few weeks later, our friend Maya calls and says she’s been working with Prince and he’s been trying to to get in touch with us. We flew out and performed with him at the Essence Festival and then hung out with him at Paisley Park. He was like, “I want glasses to cover my third eye.” Breezy designed a few different versions and it was history after that.
