Terrence Hight Jr. is the founder and CEO of The Hight Effect and Hight Health, organizations that provide solutions to address social determinants of health in underserved communities. He sat down with rolling out to discuss how he has helped establish over 500 startup companies, trained over 1,000 minority entrepreneurs, and assisted entrepreneurs in securing over $1.2 million in funding.

Can you explain the purpose of High Effect and High Health?


The Hight Effect focuses on helping … minority entrepreneurs set up and grow their businesses. A lot of people that are first-generation entrepreneurs in the minority community don’t know where to start, so they come to us and we help with the foundational things such as business plans, getting funding, and we connect you with different partners and resources. At Hight Health, we partner with health care professionals and provide access, awareness, and education to underserved communities. 

What’s your specialty and how did you choose your profession?


I’m a health care administrator not necessarily a technician. It focuses on the operational space. Specifically, [the] revenue cycle, everything from when you schedule an appointment with your doctor, all the way until you get your bill from the insurance company.

What role does Hight Health play?

It focuses on the community and specifically, social determinants of health. We partner with physicians and healthcare professionals and provide health fairs, health care services, [etc].
