Hight Health CEO Terrence Hight Jr. shares pandemic-coping health care tips

What are the main health disparities that affect African Americans?

One of the main ones is access. They may not have transportation or certain types of food options. If you only have convenience stores and not certain grocery stores, you’re only going to be able to eat the food there.

What are three things that people should implement to have a healthier life?

I would say definitely in the world of COVID, wash your hands. Be open to education in health care, a lot of people don’t pay attention to it if you don’t feel unhealthy, so you don’t think you need to go to the doctor. Then just maintaining a healthy lifestyle through exercise and dieting.

What role does technology play in your businesses?

A huge role. It helps in increasing the efficiency of care and also helps to expand care. It’s becoming more prominent within the health care space, so we’re excited to see where it goes.

What role do regular checkups and preventive steps play in having a healthy lifestyle?

I think they play a great role. Be proactive and know what’s going on so you can catch things before it happens. That’s something we encourage through education. We encourage people to come to health fairs, get regular screenings, get their annual physical, etc.
