Carmelo Anthony chronicles his rise from the ‘bottom’ in new memoir

Melo also hit up Instagram with a few more details to share about his new book.

“It’s a memoir of my life before the NBA and I promise you it’s a story you never heard from me before. This book isn’t about basketball… It’s about life, and growing up in the places WHERE TOMORROWS AREN’T PROMISED. Today, I’m proud to announce my memoir, coming to you on September 14th,” he posted.

Where Tomorrows Aren’t Promised also looks at Baltimore’s troubled school system as well as Anthony’s will to survive after losing close family and friends to the streets.

“It’s Carmelo’s story and I had the luxury of working with him and writing it. Devin Allen got the chance to take the photo, so we all kind of got to collab on that which was a cool thing. … To show people how sports can be transformative. But this book isn’t really about sports. It’s about any and everything you need to be able to focus on sports,” Watkins said in an interview with ABC Baltimore’s WMAR Channel 2 News.
