“Masterminds of Hip Hop aims to give credit back to the creators of the cultural movement. Not enough people know that the first records would not have been made without the success and raw talents of these artists. The most amazing part is seeing a piece of history and the future of technology come together. NFTs are truly a game-changer and I can’t wait to pay homage to my fellow pioneers of the movement known as Hip Hop, so stay tuned to Tokau for the announcement of many more names which will be a part of the collection,” Simmons told Black Enterprise in a statement.
Launching the initial collection on Friday, Aug. 13, the NFTs will feature never-before-seen or heard recordings and artwork from artists such as Public Enemy’s Chuck D., Doug E. Fresh, Big Daddy Kane, MC Lyte, Nikki D, DJ Hollywood, Busy Bee and Grandmaster Caz. The collection will be separated into two phases, named Pre-Recorded and Early Recording. Each will see upwards of 50 NFTs minted.
