Rap renegade Megan Thee Stallion is incensed that her music label is allegedly blocking the release of her new remix single, “Butter,” which is reportedly supposed to be dropped this week.
Megan is sure that former Major League Baseball superstar-turned-record label owner Carl Crawford, the founder of 1501 Certified Entertainment, has stopped the unveiling of the remix to K-pop’s song that she is featured on.
In legal documents obtained by TMZ on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2021, Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, 26, told the court that Crawford is using excuses as to why they won’t let the song reach the market. The “WAP” rapper said they told her that the song won’t be good for her career, whereas Megan believes the single will exponentially expand her burgeoning international fanbase.
Furthermore, according to the legal docs, Megan accuses 1501 CE of trying to make her pay a six-figure sum in order to get them to sign off on the release of the joint.
If this seems like a case of déjá vu, it almost is. Last year, Megan was embroiled in a legal entanglement with Crawford and execs at 1501 over the allegedly paltry contract she signed as a 20-year-old rising star. In that case, Megan said the label was blocking her new music because she demanded to renegotiate the terms of her deal.
In short, Megan accuses the label of trying to sabotage her career. Therefore, the “Savage” artist is pleading with a judge to release the song on Friday, Aug. 27, 2021, as previously scheduled.
