What was your first creative position and what did you learn that you apply today to your professional creative practice?
My 1st creative position was as an instructor in 2011 at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial in Grosse Pointe, where I taught decoupage. That experience reinforced the importance of organization, the value of experimentation, and the results of intuitive creativity, which I apply today. And It was a great experience motivating others to continue this craft.
What two designing trends have become mainstream?
Graffiti art, which is now called in many instances “mural art,” has become more appreciated as artists engage communities with their relevant messages through imagery. Don’t know if it’s a trend but have noticed a lot of artists doing Zentangle art, which I love.
How does technology play a role in art today?
Various technologies are important, but one that has dramatically changed the way of doing business as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic is Zoom, ClickBid, and other similar platforms where art can be shown worldwide. Gallerists, collectors, individual artists and nonprofit organizations, such as the Torch of Wisdom Foundation in collaboration with the Detroit Fine Arts Breakfast Club that rely on artists works for fundraising auctions, are especially appreciative.
