R&B songstress Emani 22, who was most famous for her singles “Feelings” and “Close,” died suddenly. She was 22 years old.
No cause of death has been revealed as of press time.
The death of Emani, whose full name is Emani Johnson, has been confirmed by colleagues within the industry, including record producer J Maine.
“Emani 22 was a wonderful individual that literally brightened up any room she was in,” J. Main said in a statement obtained by People magazine.
“I worked on music with her, and helped her put together her last project which was ‘The Color Red.’ The way we worked together was effortless, we just understood each other,” he said. “It hurts so bad to know that the last time I saw her was the last time I’d ever see her again.”
Fellow singer Bhad Bhabie, 18, whose single “Miss Understood” has just peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hot Digital Sales Chart, is in shock that her close friend is gone.
“I don’t even know what to say. … This doesn’t even feel real,” she penned to her nearly 17 million Instagram followers.
“I used to spend almost everyday with you. You taught me so many things. You are my inspiration for many things (hair, nails, style, etc) my big sister ?,” Bhabie continued. “I’m gonna miss you so much.”
Bhabie posted another phot of Emani huddled up with her dog, asked rhetorically, “Chuppas favorite auntie ??.”
Producer J. Main also said: “I considered her to be like a little sister to me. She will be missed and never forgotten, and I’ll always think about the great times we had hanging out.”
