What makes you different from other artists?
Definitely my Pink Stunnas. I started my car club back in 2003 and it’s now one of the largest car clubs in Houston. At the beginning of my career, I would pull up with the Stunnas and people wanted to find out who we were. Instead of me having to fight for their attention they would approach me and I’d give them my mixtape. It’s so much more than just a car club, everyone in the Stunnas has some sort of business; one person does hair, another makes T-shirts, etc. We are focused on building our fan bases so we can drum up more business for our entrepreneurial endeavors. We have multiple group members and they each pay a membership fee.
Let’s talk specifically about your latest project and the inspiration behind it?
For the first time, I am in control of my own music. It’s been years since I’ve been able to put anything out because my boyfriend was my producer and when we broke up, he took all my music and there [were] a bunch of other legal issues. I didn’t have access to anything anymore, but I learned my lesson. For my new projects, I am teaming up with multiplatinum producer, Phunk Dawg of House of Phunk Music. Everything that I am putting out now is about celebrating my success, my triumphs, and speaking for all of the females who have had to come up from the bottom and boss up.
What is next for you?
I plan to remain an independent artist and keep grinding and putting out good products and great music and I also have a new online boutique launching this fall.
