From foster care to NFL to divorce: Anthony Trucks on how failures shaped him

Not that I was outcasted, but I didn’t perfectly fit. I noticed I didn’t fit. At school, I was still the only kid that looked like me. So I had a lot of Black moments. There were these little White twins. These little boys used to constantly use racial slurs all the time.


Why should people get Identity Shift?


Well, not everybody should. Here’s what I do know: if you want more, you need to work on making an identity shift. At the end of the day, there are people who have what they have, and they’re happy with what they have, and that’s great. Love those people right there, they’re joyful. Then there are people who go, ‘I don’t have this thing, I want this thing.’ We feel this gap, a constant gap between where I’m at, and where I want to be.
