What challenges have you experienced trying to get your footing and establish yourself as a subject matter expert in this industry?
When you think of pest control, you think of the side dealing with not-so-glamorous environments. But here is the thing, this is an essential trade, so once I got into pest control, I was able to look around and say, wow, we help just like your garbage man and essential workers. We help keep the balance in the world. We are licensed through the Illinois department of public health, so you just cannot run up on pest control, and my goal is to change the way it looks. As much as I like to put on my cute blouse and lip, I also like to put on my onesie and my hard hat to get rid of your bed bugs, mice, and roaches. The challenge is changing the way we see it [pest control] by not looking at it as something that people do not want to touch, for it is a multi-billion-dollar business. Pest control is underrated; we [Black women] are not represented in it. My goal is to break those barriers.
