Hickory, North Carolina hip-hop artist B-Strilla introduced himself to the music industry in 2005 when he and a friend created Center Street record label. Being a natural-born hustler, go-getter and entrepreneur, B-Strilla found his way onto the music scene to get away from street life. As an artist, he prides himself on being clear, real, and raw because where he came from there was no faking anything. After finding success with his previous hit song “Mob Ties,” B-Strilla is back with another hit, “Came In.” The single explains the struggles of growing up in the streets and the effects of that environment.
Your latest project, what inspired it?
The song “Came In” is my way of life. Everywhere I go, I gotta keep protection on me. Being from the streets and hustling, you had to stay respectfully aware and dangerous at all times.
What affirmations do you repeat to yourself that contribute to your success?
Money comes to me in expected and unexpected ways. I have the power to create all the success and prosperity I desire. I am grateful for all the skills and talents I was blessed with that serve me so well.
Name three books, works, performances or exhibits that changed how you view life or yourself?
I love this question because I pride myself on learning. The first would be Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz. I really enjoyed The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene. But, my all-time favorite is BMF: The Rise and Fall of Big Meech and the Black Mafia Family.
Why do you consider lifelong learning important?
No matter what people say or do, they cannot take away your personal life experiences. I believe knowledge is power. The more you know yourself, the more powerful you are as an individual.
