Starring in a successful book-to-film adaptation herself, “Orange Is the New Black” star Uzo Aduba is hosting Netflix’s Book Club. Each month a newly adapted book will be available to watch on Netflix soon after. Aduba will invite the stars and storytellers for conversations as they dive into the characters, themes and stories, creating an intimate experience.
Announced on Aduba’s Facebook (Uzo Aduba), December’s pick is Stay Close by Harlan Coben. For fans of thrillers and mysteries, this pick is for you.
Synopsis: Megan has come a long way from her wild past. Now, she’s a suburban soccer mom living your picture-perfect life. She’s got two kids, the perfect husband, but a growing sense of dissatisfaction. Ray, a talented former documentary photographer, has now found himself in a dead-end job posing as paparazzo exploiting celebrity-obsessed rich kids. Jack is a detective who can’t let go of a cold case where a local husband and father disappeared 15 years ago. Each year on the anniversary, he visits the home where the missing man’s family awaits his return.
The eight-part Netflix series will be released on Dec. 31, 2021. Richard Armitage, who starred in Coben’s The Stranger, will play Ray. Cush Jumbo (“The Good Wife”) will play Megan, and James Nesbitt (“Bloodland”) will star as Jack.
