What made you want to create your record label?
When I first started, I wanted to be that artist that got a deal, I wanted to be signed, I wanted to be all of that. And In 2018, I got into situations where I started working with labels, and I thought it was a dream come true. I was in Baltimore and New York, you know, making goals. What I realized though is that the business of music is no joke. It’s a billion-dollar industry. So what I kind of got moved into was something that I fought spiritually. I fought because I wanted to blow up or I had a perception of what blowing up was like, and I viewed it as something completely different. So what happened was all of it fell through because at the last minute I stopped myself from signing a deal, because I saw things and they weren’t right. And I was like, my heart and mind is telling me no, so I’m going to be obedient. And that’s what I did. I was just like, no, I can’t mess with this s—, it’s not right.
