New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said that he’s “disturbed” by the video that seems apparent in showing a glaring racial disparity in how the two teens were handled.
Although an investigation is still gathering the facts about this incident, I’m deeply disturbed by what appears to be racially disparate treatment in this video. We’re committed to increasing trust between law enforcement and the people they serve. https://t.co/ck9yCXMmL0

The Bridgewater Township Police Department was eager to tell the public they are on top of the matter in a Facebook post and asked for Somerset County to investigate the issue.
During her visit on CNN, the mother of the Black teen was aghast at the cop’s brutal handling of her son.
“I hate to say this, but if it wasn’t for race, then what is it?” The mother, who only went by the name Ebone, told CNN’s Don Lemon. “What made them tackle my son, not the other kid? What made them be so aggressive with my son, not the other kid? Why is the other kid sitting down, looking at my son be humiliated and put into cuffs? It just doesn’t make sense. And it makes me angry.”
“I felt like they were treating him like he was superior to me,” added Ebone’s son, Kye, the Black teen who was handcuffed.
