Two teenagers were arrested on Feb. 21, 2022, after being connected to a triple homicide in Detroit. Five-year-old Caleb was killed execution-style, and his mother, Lashon Marshall, and her boyfriend, Aaron Benson, were also killed.
The police said that the three victims were found dead on Feb. 20 after a relative stopped by and hadn’t heard from the family in weeks.
They found Marshall’s and Benson’s bodies first, and after continuing to search the house, found Caleb’s body in his bedroom. Investigators said that the killings did not appear to have happened the day the relative found the bodies.
“It’s like a monster would do this,” Caleb’s paternal grandmother said to Fox 2 news. “For you to shoot a 5-year-old in the face? Twice? You could have let him go so he could remain and live.”
The teenagers have not been named, but the police say they are known to the victims.
Caleb’s 6th birthday would have been on Feb. 27.
“He could have grown up to be anything he wanted,” the grandmother said. “He’s our future, he was our future. Why would you take my grandson from me?”
